Our Partners In Nepal
Brighter Vision Nepal
To facilitate our activities in Nepal we have formed a partnership with a couple who are acting as house parents to our girls. They are however doing so much more. They have facilitated the locating of the girls and lent the credibility needed. They have found the house and helped us decide on a school for the girls. They have formed a NGO in Nepal and named it Brighter Vision Nepal. Our name Women Working With Women is not a good name for Nepal as it suggests the exclusion of men.
One of our goals is to offer our sponsors a closer connection to the child.
In most charity situations you never get to know the recipient of your charity. In our situations the sponsors have chosen the girl they will sponsor. They will be sent emails periodically on the girls progress, any problems she is having and send pictures to keep them in touch. We encourage our sponsors to send letters and pictures of themselves and their families, we want to create a bond, a since of belonging. The sponsor will be able to communicate with the child and send gifts when appropriate. It is the chance to adopt without the day to day responsibly of having the child living with you. This seems to appeal to many professional people, especially single career women, who do not feel they have the appropriate time for a child of their own and yet would like to have a connection with a child. In addition to the benefit to the sponsor, is the obvious benefit to the child. It allows a child that has been told all her life that she was a sign the family was cursed, and she was only a burden to the family, and to know that there is someone, maybe more than one, who thinks that she is of value, it will give her a feeling of family.
